Waging a war on cars?

The Wiggins effect or ever-increasing fuel prices? Whatever the reason, recent reports suggest that bikes are out-selling cars with 3.6 million bikes being sold in 2012, compared to 2 million of it’s four-wheeled competitor. Call it inspiration following the success of our British Cycling teams or a desire to seek a healthier lifestyle, even to cut commuting costs, the UK is fast becoming the most enthusiastic cycling nation in Europe.

More cash is being invested by the Government to improve infrastructure and to make roads safer for cyclists. Further reports from the Governments National Travel Survey, show people are looking to cut costs for shorter journeys, collecting the kids from school or a quick pop to the local shop for milk. With increasing household budgets, city congestion and parking charges and people looking for a cheaper and healthier mode of transport, the people of the UK are depending less on cars and it’s easy to see the reasons why.
